With the recent directive of state government for closing all schools and colleges in the urban areas
till March 31 to contain the spread of COVID-19, Lodha World School moves online to continue with
the education rigour. Lodha World School is the only school in Thane and Palava region that will use
their existing online learning platforms to continue classes for students from Class 1 - 10 via Google
classrooms and Zoom.
Lodha World School has shared a remote learning timetable with every student and are driving
virtual teaching and learning during this home schooling period. Students are given domain ids to
sign in and access their virtual classroom, which is closely monitored by their class teachers and
subject teachers.
The teachers are able to provide revision sheets, practice worksheets and pre-reads on this platform
in order to build better student engagement while they are at home. The students are actively
engaging in discussions and queries on this platform and it further enables them to submit their
worksheets and assignments and obtain feedback from the teachers on a real-time basis.
Asha Narayanan, Principal, Lodha World School, Thane said, "We are running online classes since
March 13 and have seen a student turnout of more than 70 - 75% in the past two days. With the
help of technology, we are trying to ensure that the students do not miss out on their crucial study
time and make the best use of our already existing online learning platform. Imparting holistic
learning solutions has always been at the forefront for Lodha World School and we are pleased to
provide a quality learning experience even in this time of crisis."
The school is also exploring and implementing virtual learning classes through Zoom Cloud Meeting
platform, which can be used as a live virtual class. Recorded versions of these videos are further
shared on the Google Classrooms for those who were unable to join the live virtual classes. A
detailed timetable for this online learning has been shared with all the students to maintain the
rigour and discipline.
Meera Ramanathan, Headmistress Lodha World School, Palava said, "The children are encouraged
to read one story a day and discussions around it are conducted through the Google Classroom
platform to enhance structured learning and engagement"
To encourage and continue inculcate the reading habit, the schools have also associated with
Pratham Books (Storyweaver.org) to utilise their digital library which has a collection of 19000+
books to initiate their Online Reading program. The children will be encouraged to read one story a
day and discussions around it will be conducted through the Google Classroom platform to enhance
structured learning and engagement.
About Lodha World School:
The Lodha World School brand, under the aegis of the Sitaben Shah Memorial Trust, has a broad
presence, with one school in Thane, and two in the City of Palava, and multiple campuses in the
pipeline in Thane, Mira Road and Palava. These high quality schools cater to residents in all the
communities set up by the Lodha Group and beyond. As an organisation that embraces a child-
centred culture, it felt important to absorb a set of values that resonates with all our stakeholders,
location of the school notwithstanding. We know who we are, we know what we have committed
ourselves to. We at LWS are a kaleidoscope of tradition, culture, values, and ethnicity. We empower
pupils, parents and educators to realise their potential and enhance the lives of others.
