May 16, 2023"The shaanti (peace) that I feel cannot be compared to anything else," says Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher and business owner Tejashree Adige about her life at Lodha Belmondo, located near the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. In an interview with Tweak India as part of their Better Life with Lodha series, the artist talks about how her home encourages as well as enhances her creativity and zest for life.
Having moved to Pune as a young newlywed, Adige took some time to settle into her surroundings and find her path. "I was barely 21 when I came to Pune. Moving to a different city after marriage was a dramatic change but I made the most of it by setting up my own dance academy," says the 49-year-old, who established the academy while raising a pair of twins and handling household
responsibilities. Today, Adige teaches the discipline and grace of Bharatanatyam to dozens of young curious minds.
"My home is where I recharge for another full day of work," adds Adige, who loves walking around the lush greenery of Lodha Belmondo. Whether it is taking a nature walk or enjoying a piping hot cup of masala chai while admiring the sunset, or being surrounded by nature is what replenishes her creative juices. She also finds happiness in her pastimes, which includes turning on her karaoke machine and singing her favourite old Bollywood songs.
When asked about her real secret to building a better life, Adige spoke about her Lodha Belmondo home and how the Lodha community have been stepping stones in her journey, helping her find her peace outside of work. "From comfort to happiness to solitude, my home gives me everything I need," she says with a smile. "I have built a community here at Lodha," she says, adding, "They make me truly happy within a place that offers me peace every single day." She finds joy in catch-up sessions with her neighbours -- fellow nature lovers who can always find time for a moment of connection. The sense of community is what gives her the strength to sustain her practice, her business, and all the other elements of her busy life.
